This project is an addition and complete remodel of an existing house in Terrell. The program called for approximately 1,000 square feet of additional space and a reorganization of the home around a future swimming pool and courtyard.
The addition takes cues from the existing building profile, introducing a simple 1,000-square-foot volume with a matching low roof pitch. This creates a strong horizontal expression along the front façade while minimizing the project’s visual impact on the surrounding neighborhood. ‘
As with other projects, the design seeks to be contextual through an act of modesty—working within the character of the existing home and neighborhood rather than competing with it.
